Full Request: 6/4/24
Personalised rejection: 6/28/24
The rejection was personalised and there was some praise. She thinks it needs more structural editing (which I had already started) but that she wasn't excited enough about it to take it on.

Before contacting an agent, authors should verify and assess the agent's requirements and suitability by visiting the agent's website(s), and becoming familiar with ways to spot and avoid bad agents. A good place to start is Writers Beware, a watch group that helps inform and protect authors from shady practices.
I've read your sample and I'm going to have to pass. I don't believe I can sell the story in its current form, and I don't have a strong enough vision or enough excitement for the project to help you develop it. In particular, I found the opening pages a bit overwritten, weighed down by description and adjectives, to the point that I kept getting drawn out of the story rather than immersed in it. That said, storytelling is subjective. Perhaps another agent will be more receptive to your query.
