Q: March 6
Rejection: June 6
"Thank you for sending me your query! Unfortunately, after careful consideration, I have decided that it's not a great fit for me at this time. While the premise of [novel] was engaging and interesting, I'm afraid that I struggled to connect with your writing. It didn't propel me into the story the way that I'm looking for. I am sorry I am not emailing with better news and no doubt another agent will feel differently. I wish you all the very best luck finding a great home and enthusiastic champion for your work. Thank you for considering me and best of luck with your future queries!"
Kind of a harsh rejection, but it looks like a form.

Query: May 18, 2025
Personal Rejection: June 4, 2025
"Unfortunately, because this project is 160000 words, I'm having trouble seeing how I could sell something this long in Science Fiction. This doesn't seem like a great fit for me, so I'm going to pass on this project."
While I understand that 160,000 words may raise concerns at first glance, particularly in traditional science fiction, I do believe this assumption might miss the core of what my novel truly is: not a conventional sci-fi novel, but a genre-blending, high-stakes dystopian sports saga—something that, by its very nature, requires narrative breadth to fully explore its hybrid world and themes.
To be candid, categorising the trilogy strictly as "Science Fiction" feels like a reductive framing of a project that was conceived to challenge genre boundaries rather than conform to them. Perhaps that’s the risk of querying as a non-native English author: the unfamiliar sometimes gets boxed too quickly...
